At the age of 13 Max bought his father a unicycle as a present and that is when he first hopped on the saddle. The bike started gathering dust in the family garage and that is when the young athlete soon started using the bike himself.
The Minnesota native never looked back after getting attracted to the creativity of the sport. He said, ‘I instantly fell in love with uni cycling and the constant challenges it presents. Once I had learned to ride around on flat pavement, I did what seemed like a logical progression – riding it off a curb or trying to jump up on a picnic table.I realized how much I liked the physical athleticism involved with it. It is the freedom of practice and competition in these sports that appeals to me over sports like cross country running and soccer where coaches and scheduled practices can stifle enjoyment.’
